SKETCHBOOK WORKSHOP-- TAKE THREE!

After being derailed by stomach flu and a snow day, our make-up sketchbook workshop is set for Thursday 2/28 from 4-5pm. Anyone who still needs to stitch up your sketchbook, see you there!

COMPOSITION RESEARCH EXERCISE

Find examples of the following elements of composition in art source of your choosing (recommend going to the library's art book section but online sources are fine). Print out examples of one each of the following; make notes on the photocopy explaining which element(s) you're identifying. 

Also include on photocopy: your name, the artist's name, name of artwork, date of the artwork (just the year).

1. Rule of thirds (golden mean)

2. Stable triangle

3. Radial balance

4. Dynamic composition

5. Chaotic composition

6. Asymmetrical composition

7. L Shaped composition

HOMEWORK for weekend of 2/23 - 2/24

- read p 66 -87 (PRINCIPLES OF TWO DIMENSIONAL DESIGN) 

- read p 10-39  (SHAPE & TEXTURE)

- one page of at least six gesture drawings, any duration, in your sketchbook

- name of artist for artist presentation due Wed/Thurs

- cube drawing in one- and two- point perspective in sketchbook

- look ahead at Assignment Two, due Mon 3/4 / Tues 3/5
